Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how [Legal entity, TODO] ("PhoneVerify", "we", "us") handles information when you use the phone number verification tool at businessphonenumberverification.com (the "Service"). It is written to be honest about exactly what the tool does and does not do.
What the Service does
The Service verifies phone numbers that you submit. For each number we derive technical attributes from public numbering rules and metadata, including:
- format and validity (whether the number is possible and dialable in its region);
- country and international dialing code;
- line type (mobile, landline, VoIP or toll-free);
- carrier and local timezone where the numbering plan exposes them.
On the paid tier you may optionally request a live network lookup (HLR) that confirms in real time whether a line is currently active. Standard verification is passive: we never dial or send an SMS to the numbers you submit.
Controller and processor roles
When you upload phone numbers for verification, you are the data controller for those numbers and we act as a data processor on your behalf. You decide which numbers to submit and your lawful basis for holding them; we process them only to return verification results to you. We act as a controller for the limited account and usage data we collect to operate the Service (described below).
Information we process
- Numbers you submit. Single numbers or uploaded lists, processed to return verification results.
- Verification results. The attributes we derive (format, country, line type, carrier, timezone and, for the live tier, activity status).
- Account and billing data. If you create an account or buy a paid plan, the email and billing details needed to provide and invoice the Service.
- Technical and usage logs. Standard server logs (IP address, request metadata, timestamps) used for security, abuse prevention and reliability.
How long we keep uploaded numbers
Uploaded lists and their results are processed to return your output and are retained only briefly. They are automatically deleted after a short state-based retention window once your job completes. You can request deletion of an uploaded list and its results at any time before that window elapses by contacting us. We do not need to keep your raw lists to operate the Service.
Sub-processors
Standard verification runs against numbering rules and does not require sharing your numbers with third parties. For the optional live lookup tier, the number being checked is transmitted to a third-party network-lookup provider that performs the carrier query on our behalf. These sub-processors are bound to process the data only to return a result and not for their own purposes. We will maintain a current list of sub-processors and provide it on request.
What we do not do
We do not sell your uploaded lists or verification results, and we do not rent, trade or build marketing profiles from them. We do not use the numbers you submit to contact the people behind them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the EU and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and similar laws. These can include the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and, under the CCPA, the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. Because we typically act as a processor for uploaded numbers, requests about those numbers may need to be directed to the controller who submitted them; we will assist as required. To exercise a right relating to data we control, contact us using the details below.
International transfers
We and our sub-processors may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where data is transferred across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or an equivalent lawful transfer mechanism.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the data we process, including encryption in transit and short retention of uploaded lists. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
